In Rotherham, a man was fined for keeping an alligator named Cliff in his garden without a license. Ashley Betts, 32, admitted to breaching the Dangerous Wild Animals Act. He claims he was unaware of the need for a license. Betts was fined over £900 but wants to reunite with his pet after obtaining the appropriate documentation.
The alligator has since been moved to a park in Liverpool. Although there were no allegations of mistreatment, authorities will keep Cliff until Betts can legally reclaim him. In England, the law mandates licenses for alligators.
